AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY SEMINAR: Towards a more productive and resilient agriculture sector

Date: 7 June 2018
Venue: Garnet
Time: 09:00
Facilitator: Melissa Baird

Food security and agriculture depend on each other: without sustainable agriculture, food prices rocket, which fuels food insecurity. The agricultural sector’s long-term health depends on the sustainability of farming methods, and taking into account long-term productivity, environmental impact and profiability. Improved land and water resource management can yield healthy, climate-resilient agricultural ecosystems, which fosters biodiversity and overall economic and social wellbeing. This requires meaningful collaboration between various stakeholders, including government, industry players, the farming community and environmentalists. The Agriculture and Food Security Seminar draws up a road map to achieve this goal.
