EVENT SPEAKERS - SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SEMINAR

Mr Nhlanhla Lucky Ngidi holds a Masters in Business Leadership (MBL) with Corporate Governance as a major, Post Graduate Degree in Management Development (MDP), Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering Heavy Current (B-Tech) and a National Diploma in Power Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer with ECSA, and a member of the SAIEE, He is also and alumni of the United States International Leadership Programme. Mr Ngidi has held several Directorships at organisations such as Energy and Water SETA and the National Laboratories Association etc, served in difference subcommittees like Financial Subcommittee, Audit and Risk Committees and as Chairperson of the Energy Sub-committees, currently an Advisory Board member of the PowerGen and Distributech Africa. 

Corrie van der Wath
Corrie van der Wath is an experienced engineer, successful businessman, dedicated mentor and visionary leader. He holds directorships on various Boards, most notably as CEO of Matleng Energy Solutions and Chairman of Pendo Energy Solutions.
Corrie has several formal qualifications in Engineering, Commerce, Business Management, Industrial Psychology and Psychology.

Moses Motaung has 20 years of experience in engineering both heavy and light industries. Holding senior positions in both Engineering and Manufacturing. He has directly been involved in the Energy field since 2010, conducting Energy and RECP Assessments, Energy Training and Energy Management System Implementation. He has also participated in ISO 50001 Energy Management Standard Certification with SABS as a Technical Auditor. 

(MBA, M.Phil)
Melusile Ndlovu is a Capacity Building Specialist on the USAID-funded South Africa Low Emissions Development Program (SALED), implemented by Chemonics International. SA-LED provides Technical Assistance to South African municipalities on climate mitigation project development and implementation. Working with South African municipalities he is gaining experience in supporting municipalities with sustainable energy transition planning, capacity building and project implementation. He is passionate about clean energy adoption for sustainable development.

Sashay Ramdharee is a Project Manager, focusing on Energy Systems Optimisation Assessments (ESO). He manages the delivery of the NCPC-SA’s service offerings in the IEE Project, which includes the implementation of energy management systems, energy auditing and energy systems optimisation assessments. He is a passionate, versatile and confident project manager with 10+ years’ experience driving projects and leading cross-functional teams to consistently meet key program deliverables. Managed the implementation of projects at 50+ large multinational industries which have saved companies approx. R1billion in avoided resource and energy costs, which were measured and verified according to ISO50001 Energy Management Standards.  

Barry Bredenkamp is a ‘struggle veteran’ in the energy efficiency revolution, having started work in this area in 1996, when South Africa was among the cheapest electricity tariffs in the world and surplus electricity generating capacity! Barry is currently a General Manager at the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI), responsible for the Energy Efficiency and Communications portfolios. He previously worked at Eskom.

Sheldon Bode - Energy Drive Systems
After completing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Cape Town (UCT), Sheldon Bode gained experience in maintenance engineering at Toyota South Africa and specialised in automation and production control. After a trip to Toyota Motor Company in Japan to study with Toyota's energy engineering experts, he co-founded the environmental engineering department at Toyota South Africa.

Hendrik de Villiers
I am a Mechanical engineer by profession, with a career in the Rolling Mill industry. I started my career at Iscor (Arcelor Mittal) Vanderbijlpark, where I worked in the Rolling Division for 7 years as a maintenance/development/project engineer and then later in a managerial position. In 1999 I moved on to Hulett Aluminium and did mill upgrade projects before becoming a process engineer on the Hot Line. 

Peter Klein holds a BSc.Eng (with distinction) and aPh.D degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand. He has 8 years of experience in finite element modelling and experimental analysis of high temperature thermal storage systems based on sensible heat storage and phase change materials. He is currently employed as a Senior Researcher for the Energy Centre at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Pretoria, South Africa. His research is focussed on thermal energy systems, including solar thermal technologies for industrial process heat, thermal energy storage and waste heat recovery. Peter is currently involved in the development of a thermal systems laboratory at the CSIR Energy Centre.
