Associate Director - CSVwater Consulting Engineers
Dr. Michele Kruger
Dr. Michele Kruger specializes in Water and Wastewater Treatmentdesign as an Associate Director at CSVwater Consulting Engineers. Michele is a previous board member of Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) and has been involved in various CESA and FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) committees for the past 10 years. She is currently a Mentor for the FIDIC Young Management Training Program that develops the top young engineers from around the world. As such she is a FIDIC accredited trainer. She helped launch the FIDIC Diversity and Inclusivity Task Team and she is also one of the pillar leaders of Effecting Change’s 10 pillar program.

Prof Sylvester Mpandeli is an Executive Manager at the Water Research Commission (WRC). He joined the WRC as a Researcher Manager in 2013. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Venda, School of Environmental Sciences since 2013. He worked at the Agricultural Research Council – Institute for Soil, Climate and Water (ARCISCW) for nine years.

Valerie Naidoo comes from Durban on the East coast of South Africa. She completed Masters and PhD degrees from the University of KwaZulu Natal in the Pollution Research Group at the Department of Chemical Engineering, with experience in water and wastewater systems. She has six years industry experience at Unilever South Africa and Unilever AMET (Africa, Middle East and Turkey). Currently, she is the Executive Manager of Business Development and Innovations at the Water Research Commission.

Chule Qalase joined the NCPC-SA as project manager, and is currently coordinating the Industrial Water Efficiency Programme, as well as conducting resource efficient and cleaner production (RECP) assessments. He has more than 10 years industrial experience in both mining and chemical sectors where he assisted in the implementation of best environmental practices. Chule Qalase is a professional water and environmental scientist, and is currently enrolled at University of Witwatersrand, completing his MSc in chemical engineering, researching water and waste

Dr Francis Wasswa Nsubuga
Lecturer for Geography and Environment sciences at University of Pretoria, with research interests in Climate Change, climate science, livelihoods, land use and regional development, water resources management and Policy Impacts. Widely published in peer reviewed international journals, participated in conferences and water related consultancies and research. A member of Globe (worldwide science and education program) Africa working committee and trainer on the same program.

Ashton Drammond
Ashton has been part of Aveng Water for 8 years, as has been involved in various aspects of the design, construction, commissioning and operation of large scale Mine Impacted Water Treatment plants. His project highlight has been involvement in the Middelburg Water Reclamation Plant from conceptual design, through leading the detailed design, commissioning and handover to operations. He has more recently moved out of a process engineering role and taken over the Business Development portfolio which includes; project and product development, R&D, as well as other marketing activities for the business.
