Lungile Mashele

Lungile is an energy economist with 15 years’ experience. She started her career in the banking sector in corporate and business banking; after a short stint she decided to pursue a career in consulting to find her true passion. Following the 2008 electricity crisis, she knew what her calling was. Thereafter she worked for various state-owned companies focused on energy. She is currently an energy specialist at the Development Bank of Southern Africa providing technical due diligence for projects throughout the continent. Lungile holds qualifications in economics and econometrics; insolvency law; cost engineering and energy. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Engineering Management. Lungile also lectures at the University of Johannesburg in the faculty of science and is a professional board member. She also provides commentary on energy matters in South Africa and on the continent for radio, television and print media.
