Frans Dekker is the Managing Director of the South African Institute of Architectural Technologists NPC (SAIAT) and a SACAP registered Professional Senior Architectural Technologist with a private architectural practice in Vryheid, Northern Kwazulu-Natal He was elected to the National Committee of SAIAT in 2005 and in 2009 become the Administration and Finance Officer. In 2013 he was elected as the Executive President of SAIAT and in February 2020 as the Managing Director. SAIAT started in 2008 co-presenting CPD workshops on the National Building Regulations for SAIAT – and still today. In 2010 he started representing SAIAT as a permanent member of the now TC060 committee at SABS, starting with SANS204 and later SANS10400-XA. Today he is convening the workgroups responsible for SANS10400-A, SANS10400-B, SANS10400-D, SANS10400-H, SANS10400-Q, SANS10400- S and SANS10400-XA and is chairing the subcommittees under TC059 for Energy Efficiency and Universal Access.
