Dr.Kate Strachan

Dr.Kate Strachan is a senior professional officer in the Climate Change, Energy and Resilience work stream at ICLEI Africa. Kate holds a PhD in coastal science and has a nearly a decade of experience in climate change and coastal management. Her experience includes adaptation plans, mainstreaming nature-based solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation, coastal management plans, and sea-level research. Kate has a wealth of experience when it comes to supporting local and subnational governments across the African continent plan and respond to the impacts of climate change. Kate has been involved in drafting several guidelines and training modules to support this work as well most recently working with national governments across Sub-Saharan Africa with increasing their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) ambitions and strengthening their adaptation targets.
